Benoît Roussy has acquired extensive experience in matters of Construction and Insurance Law, in addition to Civil and Commercial Litigation.

He has pleaded before all of the jurisdictions of the various Québec Courts, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada.

Benoît represents private owners, contractors, national insurance companies and surety companies in all types of claims relating to the Construction and Insurance Industry.

In matters of surety, he is regularly asked to interpret  the scope and validity of contracts. 

In Commercial Litigation and Civil Liability, he represents corporations, real estate developers, co-ownerships as well as various actors in the area of Property Law.

His far-reaching practice has lead him to play a major role in the elaboration and interpretation of construction contracts, legal hypothecs and all claims made by virtue of the Plan de garantie en vertu de la Loi sur le bâtiment (Warranty ABRITAT), the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ), the Bureau des soumissions déposées du Québec (BSDQ) and the Commission sur la santé et sécurité au travail (CSST).

Benoît personally handled the Alta Limited case that resulted in a fundamental 1998 Québec Court of Appeal decision defining the validity and the scope of the new Code of the Bureau des soumissions déposées du Québec (BSDQ).

Benoît also gained experience in the area of Professional Liability where he has defended various players of construction projects. He is also recognized for his experience in matters of injunction, safeguard orders and other extraordinary recourses.

Benoît has been recognized by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as leading practitioner. In 2010, he was named in Best Lawyers in Canada under the expertise of  Construction Law.
